But doesn't it show that Ideal Days is a bad way to estimate but Story Points are better (nothing is perfect) because the latter (should) take into account risk and enforce less optimism (e.g. this seems like a 9 so it goes in the 13 bucket, not 8)?Permalink

@FredrikJN @fulhack @EmilStenstrom I know far less about statistics (bordering on 0 compared to @fulhack) but I previously plotted estimated points (we were doing powers of two) against actual time spent and it followed the expected pattern. Estimating hours likely would have grossly underestimated the work.Permalink

@FredrikJN @fulhack @EmilStenstrom (also, note that if the estimate was over 8, we would break it down in keeping with the idea that adding up smaller, more certain estimates is better than pretending you can forecast larger, more uncertain efforts.)Permalink
